Since its inception in 1901, St. Paul's A.C.W has evolved into its fellowship of caring individuals always ready to serve the needs of this parish and that of the community. With astonishing artistry, the Centre is quickly transformed to accommodate any number of activities from their many fund-raising projects to the more solemn occasions of funerals and memorial services. Preparing for the parish Bazaar is an activity of long-standing as they create their famous Christmas puddings! Their arms are always open to welcome new members.
This behind-the-scenes group of dedicated men and women set up the altar for the Eucharist, as well as preparing the Church for special services, such as weddings and/or funerals etc. All those wonderful decorations that adorn the Church at Christmas, Palm Sunday, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc. are the results of this team of individuals quietly working in the background. Your helping hands would always be welcome.
Appointed by the Priest following training, the chalice bearer is commissioned to assist the clergy in administering the chalice during the Eucharist services, and during monthly services held at local Seniors Residences.
St. Paul's has two choirs; a mixed adult choir and a youth choir. Our senior choir sings the hymns and an anthem at the 10:00am service as well as the psalm for the day. Practices are Thursday evenings at 7:30pm,followed by a cup of tea and social time. The youth choir, ages 7 through high school, rehearses Saturday mornings at 9:30am, and sings at the 10:00 services periodically, more often around Christmas and Easter seasons. Any singers, young or otherwise, are always welcomed at St.Paul's.
The Corporation consists of the Rector's Warden, the People's Warden and the Rector. It is the duty of the wardens to ensure that adequate financial support is provided for the Church and that the physical and financial concerns of the parish are efficiently managed. Meeting monthly, the Corporation welcomes your input, in writing, on issues of concern relating to the smooth management of the parish.
The Evangelism group consists of the parish members who have a special concern for bringing new individuals and families into fellowship with the already established faith community at St. Paul's. Your suggestions / comments and volunteerism relative to evangelism are always welcomed.
This group is an advisory committee to inform and advise the Rector, Wardens and parishioners of the workings of the various committees and groups within the church. Parishioners are welcome to sit in and observe any meeting, the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm.
The requirements are simple for those who wish a more active role in our Sunday worship services, the ability to speak clearly and with an understanding of the verses you are reading. We always welcome new readers.
Lighting the candles, carrying the cross, assisting in the preparation of the Eucharist, this is the ministry of the Servers Guild to enhance the worship we offer to God.
Those warm, friendly faces that greet you and hand you the bulletin and hymn book are the Sidespeople. They also take up the collection and straighten up the Church after the service. If you are looking for a place to volunteer, why not give thought to experiencing the joy of greeting everyone on Sunday morning.
The heart of any warm, loving and welcoming home is always the kitchen, and that certainly applies to the kitchen at St. Paul's. Used by many of our groups for fund-raising occasions, meeting in fellowship, sharing a meal,or just social interaction, our kitchen is a hub of activity. About seven years ago, St. Paul's Kitchen began monthly free outreach meals, available to all in our community in need of food and fellowship. Served on the 4th Saturday of each month, this core of volunteers invites you to drop in at any time to see what they're all about. Who knows you just might want to stay!
On any given Monday morning you will see a group of ladies and one brave gentleman, working in the Centre busily making crafts, and enjoying wonderful fellowship as this group prepares throughout the year for three annual fund-raising projects. The Victorian Tea is held in May, then the Oktoberfest Bazaar in the Fall, followed by St. Nick's Shopping Day in December for the children. Feel free to join in the fun - just bring your lunch and they'll always find you a job.
